Location: Woking {some travel around other sites in surrey will be required}
Salary: £40 – 45,500 PA
Duration: Permanent
Hours: Hybrid working

Summary of a HR Generalist
As a trusted, credible partner and with specialist expertise, the post holder will help drive the successful implementation of the People strategy, planning an agenda in your Business Unit through coaching, challenging and influencing senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities of a HR Generalist
• Use your operational and strategic knowledge of your Business Unit to provide feedback, lessons learnt and insight to the wider People Services teams to support the continuous improvement of our People plans, ways of working, future initiatives and policy framework.
• Use a variety of coaching and influencing skills, and provide challenge as appropriate, to help support the development and delivery of local plans and initiatives which are aligned to the broader People and Corporate
• strategies and drive positive and measurable improvements.
• Understand and provide the knowledge of all workforce key performance indicators within the designated Business Unit and identify any trends, patterns and data analysis on workforce activity such as employee relations activity, appraisals, training, attendance, bank and agency spend, recruitment and retention.
• Provide the right balance between operational guidance and strategic planning so that the Organisation has a workforce capacity and capability fit for the future, along with a focus on driving value through the alignment of the People, Improvement and/or Culture Strategy.
• Provide specialist knowledge to support the development and implementation of workforce transformational change programmes to enable the organisation to achieve its strategic objectives.
• Create a culture of knowledge, experience and sharing expertise through collaboration, effective systems and the removal of silo working.
• Foster an inclusive culture across the organisation which unites people, whatever their differences.
• To deputise for the Deputy Director of People as and when required; representing their area of expertise.

Key Competencies of a HR Generalist
• Significant experience of working within a full generalist HR environment.
• Experience of implementing and managing workforce change/transformation programmes.
• Generalist HR experience and ability to demonstrate expertise in employee relations, leadership and organisational change.
• Up to date knowledge and understanding of employment legislation.
• Understanding of a consultancy approach and contracting model.
• An understanding of the strategic HR and OD context in which they deliver their role.
• Experience of working in a unionised environment
