The Weybridge Community Regatta – The Results Are In!

After months of promoting our 4th year in the Weybridge Community Regatta the day finally arrived (2nd August).

Our first year of an all March team: Hollie Capon, Donna Jackson, Charlie Shepherd and Bessie Shepherd and we couldn’t be prouder of the girls for their hard work!

The day was filled with laughter, nervousness, exhausting ergo challenges and support from our colleagues, friends and family.  It was an amazing turn out and we felt well looked after by everyone.

We unfortunately didn’t regain the winning tile and gold medals but the girls did come 12/16 in the time trials and did their absolute best!

We are proud to say we successful raised £565 and here’s why we chose the White Lodge Centre this year…

The Centre supports disabled children, young people and adults, their families and carers in Surrey and throughout the surrounding areas. They specialise in care for those with a diverse range of disabilities, including cerebral palsy and other similar conditions. They’re recognised as a centre of excellence where all the services they offer consistently attain the highest possible standards.

Anita Whiting, a Senior Recruitment Specialist in March Recruitment sadly lost her brother Steve Burke at the end of 2018. A few years ago he discovered White Lodge and after his first visit there, he fell in love with the centre.  He would spend his time there joining group discussions, creating art, learning new I.T. skills, enjoying days out, event evenings and just making great friends. The centre brought new dimensions to Steve’s world and absolutely changed his life.

It costs over £2.5 million a year to run the White Lodge Centre which is not fully met by statutory sources, so they rely on voluntary donations to maintain these vital services – which is why we proudly chose them to fundraise for this year.

We will no doubt be entering again next year for the 5th time and once we have chosen our charity we will create a JustGiving page. Thank you to everyone who supported us and donated it means so much.
